This banana nut bread is a healthy take on a classic favorite. Rolled oats and oat flour is substituted for the all-purpose flour. The walnuts provide some healthful fat, and chocolate chips add a little bit of decadence.

Banana Nut Bread (Healthified)

2 ripe bananas

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 egg

3/4 cup milk

1 cup oat flour

1/2 cup old-fashioned oats

1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup dark chocolate pieces

Mash your bananas in a large bowl. Add remaining ingredients. The oats soak up a lot of the milk, so don’t be alarmed if it looks soupier than traditional banana bread batter. I highly recommend that you toast the walnuts. It makes quite a bit of difference in the flavor. Pour into greased loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees F for right around 55 minutes.
