Here’s a sweet and salty treat similar to Chex Party Mix, but with a sweet twist. We were feeling rather snackish this weekend. Mother’s Day is almost here. My husband enjoys making homemade snack mix and gave me “the day off from sweet making today.”

Set oven temp at 250 degrees F.

2 sticks butter melted in a large roasting pan

To melted butter add:

3 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce

2 tsp seasoned salt

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

Mix well. Then add:

13 cups of corn chex. You can use a combination of chex cereals, or your favorite.

2 cups of toasted oat cereal, like Cheerios

12 oz honey roasted peanuts

Bake 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. After the mixture cools add 1 cup each of Pretzel M & M’s and Dark Chocolate M & M’s.

Store in a sealed container after completely cooled.

Hint: If you add the candy while the mixture is still slightly warm the chocolate inside melts for a really yummy treat without the chocolate getting all over. You may want to do this per portion and not add the entire amount of candy to all of the still warm snack mix, as some of the candies may crack and things then could get messy. It’s also a great trick to use with popcorn for an occasional yummy, inexpensive yet decadent treat.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms!
